Carlos comes from an artistic family. His mother and aunts paint with oils and acrylics. His two young daughters, Breanna and Hannah, are also developing the gift of painting and photography. After purchasing his first camera in 1984, he enrolled in several art and photography college courses.
His passion and foundation for black and white photography took a significant turn when he came across the works of artists such as Ansel Adams, Michael Kenna, Eugene Atget, Paul Strand and other master photographers. The fundamental studies of such luminaries have helped Carlos develop his own artistic style.
"The grand choreography, however, is deeper than black and white or color photography. It is much more than trying to find the red sunset, the majestic summit of Mount Fuji and the perfect time to take the photograph. It is, above all, an ongoing and trusting relationship with the Creator, the One who leads the way and knows the perfect place for my next photographic adventure. This is how each and every photograph comes alive."
Carlos is a devout Christian and family man. "As a Christian artist, my goal is to present the viewer with His fingerprints of peace, serenity, and dynamics."
Each photograph comes with his favorite Bible scripture, "John 14:6", which reads, "Jesus answered, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Carlos works with the Hasselblad and Nikon systems.
